Let’s Talk About How To Get Married In Shenandoah National Park

Getting married in Shenandoah National Park is a dream come true, but it comes with some important considerations. 

For weddings with more than 15 guests, special permits are a must. These permits ensure that your celebration aligns with the park’s regulations and that all necessary arrangements are made for larger gatherings.

It’s crucial to note that the processing time for special use permit applications is a minimum of 6 weeks from the time of receipt at the permit office. Any applications requesting start dates earlier than 6 weeks will not be considered, so it’s advisable to plan well in advance.

If your celebration is a simple, stand-up ceremony with less than 16 participants and no setup, you may be in luck — this type of ceremony doesn’t require a permit! However, for ceremonies, gatherings, and weddings involving any form of setup, such as decorations, chairs, arch, awning, or music, a permit is mandatory, regardless of the number of participants. 

Whether you’re planning an intimate elopement or a grand celebration with a larger guest list, securing the appropriate permits ensures that your special day in Shenandoah National Park is not just memorable but also compliant with park regulations.
