Strolling through King Street

As Jamal and Adrianne strolled hand in hand along the cobblestone streets of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, I couldn’t help but feel inspired by the love and connection between them. It was clear from the way they looked at each other and laughed together that they were truly meant to be.

We started our engagement session at a charming coffee shop and bakery, where Jamal and Adrianne enjoyed a sweet treat and cup of coffee. The cozy atmosphere and warm lighting provided the perfect backdrop for capturing some candid moments between the couple. Adrianne’s eyes sparkled with excitement, and Jamal’s smile never left his face as they chatted and shared stories.

As we made our way down to the waterfront, the setting sun cast a golden glow over everything, creating a magical ambiance for our photoshoot. The light danced off the water, highlighting Jamal and Adrianne’s silhouettes as they embraced and whispered sweet nothings to each other. I knew these images would be some of my favorites from the day, capturing the romance and intimacy of their relationship.

One of the cool aspects during the shoot was incorporating the world going on around us–rather than trying to avoid it. I embraced the hustle and bustle of the city and used it to my advantage. Incorporating passersby into some of the shots added a whimsical and lively element to the photos, making them truly unique and unforgettable.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, we made our way to Pop’s ice cream, where Jamal and Adrianne shared a sweet treat and continued to share their dreams and plans for their wedding day. The twinkling lights overhead created a romantic and cozy atmosphere, and I couldn’t help but feel grateful to be a part of this special moment in their journey together.

As a documentary photographer in Virginia, moments like these are what inspire me to continue capturing love stories and relationships in all their raw and authentic beauty. Jamal and Adrianne’s engagement session in Old Town Alexandria was a perfect example of the magic that can happen when two people are in love, and I feel honored to have been able to document it for them.
